Did you capture a great picture from the day of the total solar eclipse? Now’s your chance to have it published in an upcoming documentary photo book, Chasing the Great American Eclipse.
Focus on the Story is having an open call for photographers from across the country to contribute images for the coffee table book that will document the eclipse of Aug. 21, the first time in 100 years that the path of a total eclipse traveled from coast to coast in the U.S.
Chasing the Great American Eclipse will document what happened in the sky and on the street during the eclipse. The book editors say they are looking for photos that capture the spectrum of emotions, the crowds, the traffic jams, the street corner preachers, the revelers and the moments that will remind us what it was like the day the sun disappeared over America.
A team of Washington, D.C.-based photographers traveled to various points on the “path of totality” and were embedded in communities from Oregon to South Carolina. Earlier this year, they were part of a successful Kickstarter campaign to create a photo book documenting the inauguration day protests and Women’s March on Washington. That book, UnPresidented, is available on Amazon.
